Dr. Sturdevant is native to the Chapel Hill area and grew up just a few minutes from the office. He attended The University of North Carolina at Wilmington where he distinguished himself, receiving multiple awards for academic performance. His diligent work was rewarded and he received admission to the UNC School of Dentistry a year early, after three years of undergraduate study. After graduating dental school Dr. Sturdevant reached out to Dr. Stephen Randall, the founder of Carrboro Family Dentistry. The two realized that they shared the same approach to patient care and went into practice together until Dr. Randall retired, transferring the practice to Dr. Sturdevant.

Dr. Sturdevant has a long family history in dentistry. A fourth generation dentist on his father's side, the Sturdevants have been dentists for 108 consecutive years. The Sturdevant family relocated to Chapel Hill in 1949 to help establish the UNC School of Dentistry, where his grandfather and great grandfather served as the first two professors. His grandfather, Cliff, is known for writing Sturdevant's Art and Science of Operative Dentistry, the best selling dental textbook in the world. His father, John, retired from UNC in 2020 after serving as a professor of operative dentistry for 40 years.

In his free time you can find Adam playing disc golf, woodworking, undertaking a wide variety of DIY projects, and hiking local trails. He loves spending time with his girlfriend Colleen and Carolina dog Pepper. He attends Love Chapel Hill church and is a member of a Triangle Christian Medical and Dental Association.
